Working with Malden, Medford, Everett, and Surrounding Communities

Celebrating over 20 Years of Service

The Everett Small Wonders classroom, located in the Temple Tifereth, on Salem Street in Malden, is an exciting place these days. The parents and children are members of the O.T.I.S. (Our Time Is Special) Reading Club. Children and parents choose books to bring home and read together. Parents write down the title and author of the book they have read, while children draw a smiling or sad face to show whether or not they liked the book. After 20 books have been shared, the child received a good medal in a special ceremony.

The children have also been learning about bears and can hibernate in their own bear cave, which they made out of papier-mache and paint. On Fridays, the children also take turns bringing home Buddy Bear and his diary, a way for children to share what they did over the weekend.  Last, but not least, Small Wonders is really enjoying their new playground.

The Bryant Street I classroom recently made a very special American flag. The red stripes were formed from the handprints of children in both Bryant I and Bryant II classrooms. Children traced stars and used blue markers to complete the flag. Then the proud artists brought and presented their masterpiece to Tri-CAP’s Fiscal office.

The Bryant I classroom has also been working on letter and number recognition, and on learning about different forms of transportation. They will be learning about community helpers soon and will also be doing a variety of science projects involving snow, water, and ice.

The Bryant II classroom recently had two exciting events: a fashion show and a field trip to Curious Creatures. The classroom fashion show was quite a success, with a red carpet and two changes of outfit for each child. After the models’ hard work, everyone participated in a special meal of Chinese food, during which all children practiced eating with their own pair of chopsticks. At Curious Creatures, children had experiences with snakes, alligators, many different reptiles, and birds.

What a great time! The children and staff at the Boston Avenue classroom celebrated the end of their two-week Harvest theme with a dinner. The meal consisted of mashed potatoes, squash, green beans, corn bread and cranberry sauce. The children made the decorations and helped with the meal. After the dinner, pictures of the children were taken for the parents who could not attend. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Once again, Tri-CAP’s Annual Holiday Gift Drive was a success. Under the very capable supervision of Pam Brown, Advocacy Coordinator, Tri-CAP was able to distribute gifts to over 842 children. Pam, A&CS staff and volunteers labeled and wrapped each present with loving attention. Pam supervises this annual event every year and every year more and more generous individuals offer their help.

Thank you for your generous contributions to the Annual Holiday Gift Drive
