Head Start
Head Start is a free child and family development program for low income families with preschoolers (ages 3-5) offering education, health services, social services, nutrition, parent involvement activities, mental health and services to those with disabilities. In our center based option, children attend class five days a week, four hours a day receiving breakfast and lunch daily. In our home based option, families receive weekly home visits for 1-1/2 hours by the Family Advocate focusing on the parents' role as the child's primary education.

Head Start Wrap Around Program
The Bryant Street site is a model for a Head Start Wrap Around Program that provides care for preschool children in a full day, full year manner to assist parents who are in training or employed. The full year schedule will allow parents to continue or pursue education, employment training or work opportunities so families can strive towards economic self-sufficiency while their children attend a high quality early childhood program.

Teacher Training Internship Program
Our program offers a 9 month practicum experience for adults interested in becoming OCCS Teacher qualified to teach in preschools, day care and Head Start classrooms. The Internship includes a 3-credit college course in Child Development, First Aid and CPR. Supervision, observation and feedback are provided. Open to those with a HS Diploma or GED with a CORI check. 9 month commitment.
